This is a sequal to an earlier program called Spectrum Analyser Applet which is detailed on my website at opentimer.150m.com which itself is heavily based on a program called FFT Spectrum Analyser Demo found at http://www.dsptutor.freeuk.com/index.htm. All I did was add zoom, combined signals and different forms of domain transformations.
This new java application, Sound Spectrum Analyser (II), goes much further. It can accept a sound file (typically a wav file) and, as shown in the image above, display a contour of the sound ploted frequency against time (this is sometimes known as a sonogram).
For further information and dowload please refer to the help file.Unlike the earlier program, this will not currently run as an applet (I plan a demo version which will) due to
file security restrictions.
To run it you will need java 1.4 runtimes and to run the "JAVA_RUNTIME_PATH/bin/java analyser" command.
If you take a copy, also copy the help page and keep them together.
